ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN III

PROJECT 2: PROGRAM DESIGN RESPONSE

This project follows on from the program created in the first project. Each member of the class was assigned a partner, whose program they would need to design a response for. The requirements of the project were to design the Urgent Care Center, and Adult Daycare Center, specified in project 1, and to designate the required space for 12 micro-apartments (The design of these apartments is part of the Architectural Design IV class).

The critical part of the project was to comply with the client's program and to negotiate with the client to meet a strict budget requirement (20% reduction of the clients estimated cost). In my design i was required to have an Urgent Care Center that was easily visible but not overwhelming, and a Daycare Center that afforded the patients some more privacy. To meet budget restrictions i combined the two buildings together and shared spaces that were common to both in the clients program.

Projects had to be presented in fewer than 5 pages (24" X 36") to ensure that only crucial information that would 'sell' the idea was included.
